IVF: Retrieval + PGD

(c) little journey of mine

Not much to say, I lost track of the daily posting up to retrieval BUT I did stay very true to keeping a low sugar high fiber diet with meals like this.  My shots were pretty standard and on a half way point ultrasound, the way the doctors reported only 3 follicles.  I was sad enough at the news and even more so when they told me that they don’t do retrievals for less than 4 follicles!   I stayed the course and made it up to what they thought was 4 with some smaller follicles growing at a later ultrasound.

By retrieval day I was thrilled when they told me they’d gotten 9 eggs!  This might not sound like much but from where I started, it was like a million.  Retrieval day was a bit strange, it was more like an operation and I was nervous with going under anesthesia.  It went pretty smoothly and other than being tired, I didn’t feel much post retrieval.

Next up:  fertilization.  4 fertilized and on day 5 those were frozen and sent to the lab for PDG.  Under a week later we got the results that 3 had made it through and only 1 tested for genetic abnormalities.  I mentioned I only wanted to know the sex if all were the same, and it was; 4 boys.  3 viable at 3AB, 3AC and 3BC – all day 5. Woohoo!
